The Osprey fledglings took flight sometime over the past week. They spent the morning flying around and seeming to enjoy their freedom after spending the last 2 months nest bound. They’ll spend the remainder of the summer here with their parents and then head south for the winter where they’ll remain for 2 years before returning to their nesting grounds to mate. Hopefully they’ll survive the journeys. Below are a few shots from this morning. In my previous post I included a couple of shots from Florida where the bird is seen eating the head of the fish before returning to the nest. I have never been able to document this locally. This morning I got lucky and came upon this Osprey in a tree right beside the trail.
