a new character

Pretty much the usual suspects hanging around for this morning’s kayak outing. The Osprey family has departed for the winter, most likely to Costa Rica. They’ll return to the same nesting area next spring to raise another brood. I did spot a juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron for the first time. These birds are mostly nocturnal feeders and they roost in trees so it’s tough to get a clear, unobstructed look.
