It’s estimated that an owl’s night vision is anywhere from 35-100 times better than ours. Not only that, but owls can see great in the day time too. Each pupil can dilate independently of the other and each has great control of how much light is let in, making them able to see in every light level.
The two photographs below are the same owl on the same perch taken just before sunrise and a little while after sunrise. Notice the difference in the size of the pupil.
