spring time at the lagoon

May 1, 2023

I was on the water by 6:30 AM yesterday morning at Beaver island State Park. The number of different species this time of year is astounding. Hooded Mergansers, Common Mergansers, Black-Crowned Night Heron, Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Red-tailed Hawks, Osprey, Mallards, even an agitated Beaver.

Most of these birds are just passing through so they won’t be around much longer and some are unapproachable and skittish but it’s fun while it lasts.
