Geese, chipmunks, squirrels, LGB’s ( initialism for little gray birds ), they’re everywhere. So how to make them stand out ? These common creatures make perhaps the best case for the importance of pleasing light and a balanced composition in a photograph. I usually try to create some distance between a complimentary background and my subject in order to reduce any distracting elements and provide some isolation, thereby focusing the viewer’s attention strictly on the subject. Then it’s a matter of waiting for some type of animation or interaction that hopefully pulls the whole thing together.
